A Day in the Life of a Member of Parliament
This is the diary of one of the MPs for Powys.
In Brighton for Lib Dem Conference.
Woke at 7.00am. breakfast in hotel.
Hotel - took taxi to railway station. Train to London. On journey chatted with our spokesman on military matters and our spokesman on transport.
Debate on government policy on Iraq. Good opening speakers and brilliant contribution by our foreign affairs spokesman - really flattens IDS. Debate goes off the boil. Go to office to do case work. Vote at 10.00pm. Motion is "That this house do now adjourn". Lib Dems abstain - we want substantive motion.
Back to flat in Pimlico - prepare for speech
in Conference tomorrow.
