Office workers

Many different types of office worker submitted diaries to the Project, and below is a selection of entries relating to their work.

  • I work at the Reality call centre (ex Kays) in Newtown. My shift is 2-8pm, 4 days a week.
  • (Credit controller and cashier) At work, I rang, faxed and emailed customers, chasing overdues. Went onto my online banking system to check bank entries. Input the details onto computer - bank system and sales ledger customer accounts. Did a couple of bank reconciliations, as I have control of six bank accounts, four in the UK and two in the USA. After I had lunch I did a credit check on a prospective customer. I raised some cheques £ and $, got them signed and put them in the mail.

  • Down to Crickhowell Community Telecottage to collect 160 copies of the new Autumn LETS Directory . LETS is the Local Exchange and Trading System, which is a local network which allows members to swap all sorts of goods and services using our local currency the Beacon. Posted about 50 copies and arranged for the rest to go to Brecon for distribution.

  • I work in the Waste Management section of Powys County Council as a recycling technician helping to promote recycling.
