John Roberts of Rhayader

At the November meeting of Radnorshire County Council, an application by John Roberts for a licence to store gunpowder on his premises was considered.

"Storage of gunpowder
An application was made by Mr John Roberts of Rhayader for a license to
store gunpowder in a magazine which he was about to erect.
The applicant was referred to the Committee for granting Licenses under the Explosives Act."
Kelly's 1891 Trade Directory for Rhayader lists a John Roberts as being a stationer and chemist at West Street.
