Charles Evan-Thomas

Charles Evan-Thomas was elected as County Councillor for Llangammarch in Breconshire in the elections of 1889 and was the first chairman of Breconshire County Council. He lived at The Knoll in Neath, Glamorganshire, and was a barrister and a Justice of the Peace for Breconshire.

In his History of Brecknock, Theophilus Jones notes that Councillor Evan-Thomas:

". . . with wisdom and courtesy presided over [the Council's] deliberations for a period of 11 years, retiring, to the great regret of his colleagues, in the spring of the year 1900."

He was replaced in his role as chairman by J R Bailey who by that time was Lord Glanusk. Evan-Thomas died in the autumn of 1902.
